Sápmi – Our part of the world
Between 6 June and 19 October, we are showing Ájtte’s travelling exhibition Sápmi – Our part of the world. The exhibition gives you an in-depth insight into Sámi culture and history through photographs and visual elements. It is shown to complement the collections and exhibitions of the History Museum.
Ájtte, the Swedish Mountain and Sámi Museum’s popular exhibition Sápmi – Our Part of the World, is now coming to the Swedish History Museum! The exhibition offers photographs and visual elements that provide an in-depth insight into Sámi culture and history.
Culture, language and history
Here you can immerse yourself and learn more about Scandinavia’s indigenous people, the Sami, with their own culture, language and history. The exhibition presents stories ranging from society and politics to everyday life and tradition, as well as crafts, literature, religion, and music.
Did you know that the Sami Parliament in Sweden is both a state authority and an elected parliament that has existed since 1993? Or that there is a tradition of co-operation between the Sami and other indigenous peoples? Today, around 370 million people in the world belong to an indigenous people. Indigenous rights and the climate crisis are some of the issues that unite them.
