Welcome to the Swedish History Museum this summer. Below you will find information about guided tours in English, as well as events for which understanding of Swedish is not needed to enjoy the activity.

Guided tours for adults in English

Tuesday – Sunday June 28-August 28, 14.00 – 14.45

Join us on a tour of the world’s largest Viking exhibition The Viking World. Learn more about what life could be like a thousand years ago and see remarkable objects that represent boundless encounters, trade and plunder, family and hierarchy, and much more.

Free admission to the exhibition.
Tickets to guided tours: 80 SEK, available at the entrance desk. It is not possible to pre-book tickets.

Viking for a day

Tuesday – Sunday, June 28 – August 28, 2022

This summer, the museum’s green courtyard is filled with activities for adults and children of all ages! Come and try Viking-era crafts and games, bake Viking-era bread, test your balance on the islet walk or relax under the large willow tree. Join a tour of the exhibition The Viking World and hear stories about people who lived more than a thousand years ago.

Bake Viking bread

Tuesday – Sunday 10.00 – 13.00
Bake your own Viking bread over an open fire and get a taste of the Viking Age.

Viking-era crafts

Tuesday – Sunday 13.00 – 16.00
Try Viking-era crafts like felting and jewelry-making. Different crafts are offered on different days.

Viking-era activities

Tuesday – Sunday 10.00 – 16.00
Play ancient games, shoot a bow and arrow and try on Viking-era clothes. Challenge a friend in a tug of war and test your senses in our smell-and-feel challenge. You can also visit the kitchen garden, explore Krampmacken, a replica of a viking age boat, relax on the grass and listen to Old Norse myths.
